These pages record the measurements and design rationale that used to sit in source comments: benchmark numbers, profiling results and the reasoning behind non-obvious choices, each with the benchmark or test that reproduces it. The source keeps the rule and the reason in a few sentences and links here for the evidence. Numbers are platform dependent; re-measure when the platform or problem size changes.
